[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 가평군 산림과에서 추진한 ‘찾아가는 청소년 목공체험 프로그램’이 관내 학교 관계자 및 청소년들에게 높은 관심과 호응을 받으며 성황리에 마무리했다고 밝혔다.

군 관내 초등학교 5~6학년 및 중학교 1~3학년 청소년을 대상으로 우드 트레이, 오르골, 시계 만들기 등의 목공프로그램 수요 조사한 결과, 총 8개 학교(초등학교 6, 중학교 2), 25학급의 청소년 480명이 접수되어 학습 수가 적은 소규모 학교를 우선하여 7개 학교, 13학급의 총 229명을 선정 후 지난 7월 1일부터  7월 19일까지 목공체험 프로그램을 수행하였다.

목공체험 프로그램을 실시한 초등학교에서는 “목공체험 프로그램을 여러번 실시하였지만 이번처럼 퀄리티 높은 수업은 처음이며 학교 교과과정과 연계할수 있어 학습면에서도 상당히 만족하여 2학기에도 목공체험 프로그램을 추진한다면 다시 신청할 의사가 있다”고 말했다.

가평군 산림과 관계자는 “성인 대상 목공체험 프로그램이 1일만에 신청 마감된 적이 있어 청소년 목공체험 프로그램도 인기가 있을 것으로 예상하였는데 학교 교사 및 청소년들이 높은 관심을 보여 목공체험 프로그램 인기를 다시금 확인하게 되었다.”고 말했다.

산림과 산림휴양팀에서는 “앞으로 지역 특색에 맞는 목공체험프로그램을 개발하여 가평군민 및 가평군을 찾는 관광객에게 생활 속 목재문화 정착 및 탄소 중립 선도에 앞장 서겠다”고 말하였다.

한편, 올해 4월에 가평군민 및 관광객을 대상으로 시작한 ‘성인 대상 목공체험 프로그램’에서 총 96명에게 체험 기회를 제공하였으며 ‘청소년 목공체험 프로그램’을 포함하여 누적 325명이 체험을 완료하였다.
