[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 3월부터 원주지방환경청은 명예환경감시원의 역량강화를 위해 교육 프로그램을 신설하는 등 온라인 교육 서비스를 확대 운영한다고 밝혔다.

온라인 교육은 명예환경감시원이 되고자 하는 사람이 시간·장소에 구애받지 않고 교육을 받을 수 있도록 지원하고 있다. 지난 2022년 7월 명예환경감시원 양성을 위해 원주지방환경청과 충북녹색환경지원센터의 협업을 통해 운영이 시작됐으며 지난해 161명이 온라인을 통해 교육을 수료했다. 

이번 온라인 교육 확대 목표는 기존 명예환경감시원의 역량 강화로 이를 위해 ‘2050 탄소중립 알아보기’, ‘배출의 품격’, ‘생활 속 제로웨이스트 실천팁’ 강의가 신규로 추가될 예정이다. 신규 강의는 기존 강의와 마찬가지로 교육 전용 누리집에서 모바일과 PC를 통해 누구든지 수강이 가능하다.

한편, 원주지방환경청은 환경 보전에 관심이 많은 사람들이 자발적으로 환경보전활동에 참여하고 환경보전 참여의식 확산 등을 위해 지난 1987년부터 명예환경감시원 제도를 운영하고 있으며, 현재 441명의 명예환경감시원이 활동하고 있다.
