[김현우 기자 = 가평] 가평군이 영아를 대상으로 진행하고 있는 로타바이러스 무료 예방접종을 다음달 6일부터 위탁의료기관으로 확대 실시한다고 21일 밝혔다.

이에 따라 군 보건소와 거리가 먼 영아들의 예방접종 의료기관 접근성이 향상될 것으로 기대된다.

군은 그간 관내에 주소를 둔 영아를 대상으로 선제적 예방과 비용부담 경감을 위해 보건소에서 무료 접종을 시행해 왔다.

위탁의료기관은 설악면 늘푸른의원 및 우리들의원, 조종면 김외과의원 등에서 시행되며, 이외에도 예방접종도우미 누리집에서 참여 의료기관을 확인하면 된다.

코로나19 백신과 달리 예약없이 방문하면 접종할 수 있으며, 로타바이러스 백신은 표준 접종일정이 비슷한 B형간염 및 폐렴구균 백신과 같은 날 동시접종이 가능하다.

접종대상은 생후 2~6개월 영아로, 1차 접종은 최대 생후 14주 6일 이내에 시작해야 하며, 마지막 차수의 접종은 생후 8개월 0일 이내에 종료되어야 한다고 전했다.

가평군 관계자는 “보건소에서 지자체사업으로 실시하던 로타바이러스 예방접종이 위탁의료기관으로 확대되면 더 많은 아이들의 건강을 보호 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다”며 “완전 접종시 감염증 발생률을 3배 감소시킬 수 있는 만큼 적기에 접종을 바란다”고 말했다.

한편, 로타바이러스는 영유아에게 심한 설사와 구토를 일으키는 위장관염의 원인으로 분변에 오염된 물이나 음식물 섭취로 발생하며, 전염성이 강해 산후조리원과 어린이집 등에서 집단으로 발생하는 경우가 많아 예방접종이 필요하다.
