[김현우 기자 = 가평] 가평군이 '슬레이트 철거 및 지붕개량 지원사업’을 추진한다고 2일 밝혔다.

가평군은 1급 발암물질인 석면으로부터 국민의 건강을 보호하고 생활환경 개선을 위해 올해 사업비 12억여 원을 들여 주택 철거 158동, 비주택 104동, 지붕개량 9동, 보관․방치 슬레이트 철거 20동 등 총 291동을 지원할 계획이다. 

지원금액은 슬레이트 면적에 따라 일반가구 주택철거시 동당 최대 352만원, 축사․창고 등 비주택은 200㎡이하의 면적에 한해 철거․처리비를 지원키로 했다.

또 지붕개량의 경우에는 300만원까지 지원되며, 지원 한도액을 넘을 경우 자부담으로 처리해야 한다.

특히 쾌적한 주거환경 조성과 취약 계층의 삶의 질 향상을 위해 취약계층의 경우, 우선 지원가구로 주택은 전액, 지붕개량은 1000만원까지 지원받을 수 있다.

또한 사업비 잔액 발생시 적법한 절차에 따른 보관 및 원인 제공자 확인 불가능한 방치 슬레이트 100㎡이하 면적에 대해서 운반․처리비도 지원할 예정이다. 

가평군 관계자는 “슬레이트 처리비용에 대한 경제적 부담으로 그대로 방치된 석면 건축물이 많은 만큼 슬레이트의 안전한 처리를 위해 군민의 관심과 참여를 바란다”며 “앞으로도 군민의 건강을 보호하고 주거환경을 개선하기 위한 다양한 정책을 마련해 나가겠다"고 말했다.

한편, 지원을 희망하는 주민은 이달 17일까지 읍면행정복지센터에 지원 신청서를 제출하고 대상지로 선정되면 슬레이트 면적조사를 실시한 후, 철거를 추진하게 된다.
