[남상훈 기자 = 원주시] 오는 12월 7일 환경부 원주지방환경청은 시멘트업종과 관련된 폭넓은 현안에 대한 논의를 위해 ‘시멘트사업장 환경관리 실무협의회’ 1차 회의를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

원주 호텔인터불고에서 열리는 이번 실무협의회는 지난 7일 '시멘트사업장 환경관리 협의회'에서 논의된 환경현안들에 대한 실질적 대책을 모색하기 위해 환경부, 강원·충북 지자체 및 9개 시멘트 제조사 관계자들이 참여한다.

환경부와 원주청은 최근 국정감사 등에서 제기된 -시멘트업종의 질소산화물 등 배출허용기준 강화, -순환자원 사용 확대에 따른 환경관리, -통합환경허가 적용 등 시멘트업종과 관련된 폭넓은 현안에 대한 대책 추진방향과 지원방안에 대해 지자체 및 시멘트업계와 소통하며 다양한 의견을 나눌 예정이다.

한편, 원주지방환경청 관내에는 전국 시멘트사업장 11개중 9개 사업장이 있다.

김정환 원주지방환경청장은 “시멘트업종과 관련해 환경관리를 강화하기 위한 여러가지 실질적 대책을 종합적으로 논의할 계획” 이라며, 이를 위해 “시멘트업계, 지자체와 끊임없이 소통하고 협력하겠다” 라고 말했다.
