[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 북부지방산림청은 국민 참여를 통한 남북산림협력 공감대 형성 및 체험·참여형 프로그램 도입을 위해 약 1억 1천 2백만원 예산을 투입해 평화숲해설 운영 용역을 추진한다고 밝혔다. 

올해 파주·철원 남북산림협력센터에서 추진하는 평화숲해설 사업은 ‘나무·숲·산림’ 역할과 북한 산림 황폐화 현황 및 복구실태 해설, 체험·참여형 프로그램 운영 등을 포함하며, 이는 남북산림협력의 필요성 홍보와 그린데탕트 실현을 위한 기반 마련에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

현재 파주 남북산림협력센터는 업체 선정 완료해 오는 5월 중 평화숲해설 운영 개시할 예정이며, 철원 남북산림협력센터는 용역 업체 모집을 위해 지난 12일부터 오는 24일까지 공고중에 있다.

한편, '남북 그린데탕트'란 녹색 즉 환경이나 생태를 의미하는 그린(green)과 프랑스어로 긴장 완화를 의미하는 데탕트(detente)의 합성어로, 남북간 환경분야 협력을 통해 긴장완화와 평화 공존을 구현하는 것을 말한다.

임하수 북부지방산림청장은 “이번 평화숲해설 운영으로 다양한 체험·참여형 프로그램 운영을 통해 남북산림협력에 대한 국민의 관심도를 높이고, 지역 주민 고용 효과와 지역경제 활성화에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.”고 말했다.
