시는 노후화된 공영버스 터미널을 철거하고 신읍동 42-10번지 일대(5,139㎡)에 오는 2023년 말까지 포천터미널 공원조성 건립사업을 완료할 예정이다.

새로 지어지는 터미널은 시민 이용 편의를 도모하고 동시에 포천시 중심 집객지역으로서 위상정립, 생태도시로의 변화, 문화공간 확보를 통한 문화도시 기반 구축 등 지역 내 랜드마크로 자리잡을 것으로 기대된다.

시 관계자는 “공사 기간 중 현재의 버스 정차 시스템에 문제가 없도록 터미널 부지 일부를 승강장으로 사용할 예정이다.”면서 “미보상 건물주에는 중앙토지수용위원회 토지수용 재결심사를 통해 잔여부지 보상을 조속히 완료하고, 터미널부지 본 공사를 올해 말 착공할 예정이다.”고 말했다.
