[남상훈 기자] 지난 17일 캠코는 이천시와 경기도교육청의 위탁개발사업인 ‘이천시 청소년생활문화센터’ 건립 기공식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이 날 행사에는 오장석 캠코 공공개발본부장, 송석준 국회의원, 김경희 이천시장, 조기주 이천 교육지원청 교육장 등 관계자 300여명이 참석했다. 

‘이천시 청소년생활문화센터’는 이천시와 경기도교육청이 학교 유휴부지에 학생들을 위한 첨단기술 인재육성 공간이자, 지역 주민들을 위한 생활체육문화시설 마련을 위해 캠코에 위탁한 건이다. 

캠코는 오는 2025년 3월 준공을 목표로 이천시가 확보한 국비 및 도비 97억원을 포함한 총 사업비 351억원을 활용해 연면적 8,843.16㎡, 지하 1층, 지상 4층 규모의 복합공공시설을 건축할 예정이며 특히 이 곳에는 청소년을 위한 강의실, 디지털 교육실, 실습실, 스터디룸 등이 마련되며, 이 밖에도 지역주민들을 위한 근린생활형 체육시설, 공공도서관 등이 자리 잡을 계획이다.

한편, 캠코는 지난 2005년부터 현재까지 국·공유재산 위탁개발사업 49건을 성공적으로 완료했으며, 현재 1조 4,410억원 규모 47건의 개발사업을 진행 중이다.

오장석 캠코 공공개발본부장은 “그간의 공공재산 위탁개발 경험을 바탕으로 이천시 청소년생활문화센터의 차질없는 건립을 준비할 것”이라며, “지역주민에게 사랑받는 공간이자 지역의 명소로 거듭나길 바란다”고 말했다.
