[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 20일 김동근 의정부시장이 의정부예술의전당 2층에 있는 시립소년소녀합창단 연습실을 방문해 미래 의정부시의 예술가로 성장할 어린이, 청소년 단원들을 격려했다고 밝혔다.

김동근 시장은 합창단의 지난 전국대회 입상 및 정기공연을 축하하고, 의정부시를 주제로 한 창작곡 등 합창 연습을 참관한 뒤 단원들의 애로사항을 청취하는 시간을 가졌다.

의정부시립소년소녀합창단은 전국합창대회 참가 및 입상을 통해 의정부시의 위상을 높이는 문화사절단 역할을 하고 있다. 지난달 정읍시에서 개최된 ‘제1회 전국소년소녀합창경연대회’에서 최우수상을 수상하기도 했으며 지난 11일 시청 앞 상설야외무대에서 진행한 제45회 정기공연에는 더운 날씨에도 불구하고 많은 시민들이 관람하며 큰 호응과 응원의 박수를 보냈다.

한편, 1998년 창단한 의정부시립소년소녀합창단은 매년 2회의 정기공연과 여러 시설을 직접 찾아가는 공연을 5회 이상 열고 있다.
