[김준호 기자 = 평창군] 평창군은 평창읍의 인구감소 대웅과 지속가능한 성장 동력 발판 마련을 위해 `평창읍` 하리 145-3 지역 일대(140,696㎡)를 ▶지역 특화 거점 조성 ▶지역상권 활성화 ▶평창형 경관개선 등 자원을 특화하는 계획을 수립해 국토교통부 주관 “도시재생사업” 공모사업을 신청했다고 밝혔다.

이번 도시재생의 방향은 지역의 고유자원을 활용한 맞춤형 재생사업을 통해 도시경쟁력 강화를 중점으로 지역과 민간이 주도하는 특화 재생을 위한 사업으로 진행되며, 공모에 선정될 경우 2023년부터 2026년까지 4년동안 국비 포함 약 179억의 예산을 투입하여 평창읍 도시재생사업을 추진하게 된다.

지역자원과 관광자원을 활용해 생활인구 유입을 유도하고 문화・여가・체험공간을 제공하여 지역 콘텐츠 거점을 조성할 계획이며, 지역 비즈니스 센터 조성하여 지역 상권의 지속적인 수입창출을 기대할 예정이다.

심재국 평창군수는 “도시재생사업은 경제활력과 균형발전을 위한 도시공간 재창조인 만큼 평창읍만의 지역 고유자산을 활용하여 지역특화 모델을 구현한 도시재생사업이 추진되도록 사업에 만전을 기하겠다.”고 전했다.
