[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 제16대 김종석 양주시 부시장이 지난 29일 명예퇴임식을 갖고 32년간의 공직생활을 마무리했다고 밝혔다.

김 부시장은 1990년 시흥시 공무원을 시작으로 1995년 경기도 전입 이후 경기도 투자유치과장, 규제개혁추진단장, 미래전략담당관, 축산산림국장,문화체육관광국장 등 주요 보직을 두루 거치며 도정 현안 업무를 담당했다.

김 부시장은 지난 1년 동안 지속발전 가능한 미래 신성장 동력 창출을 위해 경기양주 테크노밸리 조성사업 추진, 은남일반산업단지 계획 최종 승인 남면 입암천 경기형 청정하천 공모 선정, 교외선 운행재개 업무협약 체결, 양주도시공사 출범 등에 시정 역량을 집중하며 경기북부 중심도시로 도약할 수 있는 탄탄한 기반을 조성했다.
