[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 사단법인 포럼경기비전은 지난 7월 30일, 원희룡 국토교통부 장관을 초청하여 지역발전 논의를 위해 ‘정기포럼 및 경기북부 시장‧군수 간담회’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사는 박환찬 사무부총장의 사회로 진행되었으며, 원희룡 국토교통부 장관, 이동환 고양시장, 박형덕 동두천시장, 김덕현 연천군수, 강수현 양주시장, 백영현 포천시장, 주광덕 남양주시장, 서태원 가평군수, 백경현 구리시장 등 경기북부권 유력 인사들이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 

김성수 대표와 박형덕 동두천시장의 인사말을 시작으로 개회되었다.

김성수 대표는 인사말에서 “경기북부는 전국에서 세 번째로 인구가 많음에도 불구하고 국가 안보를 위해 희생해 온 지역”이라면서 “정부 차원에서 지역의 규제를 완화해 지역발전과 대한민국 경제성장을 위해 기여해 달라”고 포문을 열었다.

박형덕 동두천시장은 “경기 북부, 특히 동두천의 경우 전체 토지의 42.5%를 미군이 점유하고 있어 지역발전에 한계가 있다”면서 “포럼경기비전이 지역 발전을 위해 선도해 달라”고 주문했다.

이어진 특별강연에서 원희룡 장관은 “김성수 대표님의 말씀에 원칙적으로 찬성한다”고 적극 호응하면서 “국토부 뿐만 아니라, 각 부처에 다각적으로 건의해 규제를 풀어나갈 수 있도록 힘을 합하겠다”고 약속했다.

또한, 보산동 상가 현장 방문과 경기북부 지역현안 논의를 위한 시장‧군수 간담회가 이어져 국토부와 각 지자체 간 실질적인 업무협조체계를 구축하는데 기여했다는 평가를 받았다.

김성수 대표는 “우리 포럼은 경기북부권의 미래를 여는데 실질적으로 기여하는 단체로 거듭날 것”이라고 자신감을 비추면서 “지역 주민들의 힘을 모아 경기의 새로운 비전을 현실화 시키겠다”고 강력한 뜻을 밝혔다.
