[김택곤 기자=정선군] 올림픽 국가정원 조성을 위한 강원도민 추진위원회와 스포츠인 추진위원회는 22일 오전 11시 서울 글래드호텔에서 국회 예결위 간사인 이철규 국회의원(강원 동해시,태백시,삼척시,정선군)을 초청해 '올림픽 국가정원 추진위원회 공동대표단∙고문단 간담회'를 개최했다.

이날 간담회에서는 지난해 8월부터 본격화된 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원의 추진 성과 및 향후 과제를 공유하고 IOC와의 긴밀한 협력방안을 도출함으로써 금년 상반기 내 기획재정부 예비타당성심사 통과를 이루어내기 위한 구체적인 실천방안에 대하여 논의하고 결의문을 채택했다.

추진위 공동대표들은 한목소리로 “올림픽 국가정원은 2018 동계올림픽  평화정신을 선양하는 글로벌 랜드마크이자 가리왕산 생태복원의 가장 확실한 방법이며, 강원특별자치도의 신성장동력으로서 큰 의미가 있다”고 강조했다.

또한 올림픽 국가정원이 정부 예비타당성심사를 통과할 수 있도록 150만 강원도민들의 염원을 모아 대통령실에 직접 건의하는 방안이 필요한 상황이기에 강원도를 대표하는 이철규 국회의원이 적극 나서 결정적인 역할을 해줄 것을 간곡히 요청”하고 이철규 국회의원에게 이와 같은 강원도민과 스포츠인 그리고 정선군민의 마음을 담은 감사패를 전달했다.

이철규 국회의원은 격려사에서 “호남권 순천, 영남권 울산에 이어 제3호 국가정원은 법 취지에 따라 반드시 중부권 강원도에 조성될 수 있도록 국회의원으로서 할 수 있는 모든 방안을 강구해 정부 예타 심사를 통과 시키도록 하겠다”고 적극적인 지원과 역할을 약속했다.
