[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 박형덕 동두천시장은 지난 8일 관내 게이트볼장을 방문하여 어르신들과 게이트볼협회 관계자들을 격려했다고 밝혔다.

박 시장은 “백세시대를 맞이하여 어르신들이 쉽게 즐길 수 있는 스포츠의 활성화가 그 어느 때보다 중요하다”며 “앞으로 게이트볼장 시설개선 등 게이트볼 종목 활성화를 위해 더욱 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 동두천시 게이트볼협회는 총 80여 명의 회원, 6개 분회로 구성되어 어르신들의 건강 및 여가활동 증진에 크게 기여하고 있다.
