[남상훈 기자 = 양주] 지난 19일 강수현 양주시장이 조동호 전 카이스트 부총장, 권용장 한국물류과학기술학회장을 만나 스마트 교통수단 등이 구현된 미래혁신 도시모델 창출을 위한 공동협력 방안을 논의했다.

이번 간담회는 최근 전기차, 드론, 교통 클러스터 등 다양한 첨단 모빌리티 수단이 급부상함에 따라 지역 여건에 맞게 특화된 스마트 미래혁신 도시를 조성하기 위한 발전방안과 기술투자 유치 전략을 논의하고자 마련했다.

강수현 시장은 이 자리에서 양주시를 스마트 미래혁신 도시로 조성하기 위한 교통, 물류 분야에서의 협력을 제안하고 첨단 모빌리티 도시모델 수립 관련해 산업계·학계의 조언을 구했다.

이에 조동호 전 부총장은 차량 무선 충전 관련 기술력과 연구 능력을 활용. 양주시가 스마트 혁신 도시로 성장하기 위해 협력을 강화하겠다고 밝혔으며 권용장 학회장은 물류 및 공급망 분야에서 학문적인 역량과 경험을 토대로 양주시 스마트 물류와 교통혁신을 위해 다양한 분야에서 협조하겠다고 화답했다.

이번 면담에서는 신도시 등에 교통혁신 방안으로 검토되고 있는 무선 충전기반 교통시스템 도입에 대한 논의도 이뤄졌는데, 조동호 전 부총장이 연구 개발한 무선 충전기반 교통시스템은 지역 내 교통 체증과 대기 오염 문제를 해결할 수 있는 환경 친화적 교통 시스템으로 스마트 미래혁신 도시 조성에 필요한 혁신기술이라는 점에 뜻을 같이했다. 또한 이와 같은 첨단기술을 도시에 적용하기 위해 산업계·학계와 민·관 파트너쉽을 강화하고 이동성을 높일 스마트 모빌리티 수단을 확산하는 데 더욱 힘쓰기로 했다.

양주시는 조동호 전 부총장, 권용장 학회장과의 지속적인 협의를 거쳐 조속한 시일 내 중앙부처, 카이트스 등 관계 전문가 등이 패널로 참석하는 전문가 포럼을 열고 미래 혁신도시 조성을 위한 발전방안을 공유할 계획이다. 

강수현 시장은 “카이스트, 기업 그리고 유관기관과 긴밀한 협력체계를 구축하고, 다양한 실증사업을 추진하여 국내·외적으로 주목받는 스마트 미래 혁신도시로 성장할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
