[김일웅 기자 = 강원] 9일 오전 10시 2023 강원·춘천 세계태권도문화축제조직위원회(이하 조직위원회)는 출범식 및 위촉장 수여식을 개최했다.

이날 출범식은 춘천 잭슨나인스호텔 크리스탈연회장에서 열렸으며, 육동한 춘천시장, 조직위원장 이상민 등 임원들이 참석했다. 

조직위원회 구성은 사무총장에 박계희 전 춘천시청 태권도 감독을 포함한 조직위원 20여명이 위촉됐다.

육동한 춘천시장은 “물의 도시, 문화관광도시, 태권도 중심 도시 춘천에서 8월에 개최되는 이번 축제는 조직위원회와 협력하여 성공적인 축제가 개최될 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다할 것이다"라고 밝혔다.

또한, "세계태권도연맹 본부유치는 춘천시민의 염원이다. 반드시 춘천시가 유치할 수 있도록 적극적으로 추진하겠다.”고 덧붙였다.

조직위원회 이상민 조직위원장은 “오늘 첫 발을 내딛는 뜻깊은 날에 조직위원장이라는 막중한 임무를 맡게 되어 영광스럽게 생각한다. 춘천시에 국제적 위상을 높이고, 태권도 종주 도시답게 품격있는 축제를 선보일 예정이다. 세계태권도연맹 본부유치 또한 이 축제를 통해 선점할 수 있는 원동력으로 삼을 것이다"라고 말했다.

한편, 지난 1일 세계태권도연맹(WT)은 태국(방콕)에서 열린 임시집행위원회에서 세계대회 3가지 종목을 춘천 개최로 유일무이하게 승인했다. 

제1회 세계태권도옥타곤다이아몬드게임(G4), 제4회 세계태권도비치선수권대회(G2), 제1회 세계태권도시범경연대회가 태권도 종주 도시 춘천에서 치러진다. 

대회기간은 8월 18일부터 24일까지 7일간 강원 춘천 송암스포츠타운 및 특설 야외 경기장에서 개최되며, 212개 회원국 중 60개국 이상의 선수들과, 임원, 관람객 등이 참석할 예정이다.

On the other hand, on the 1st, the World Taekwondo Federation (WT) uniquely approved three world events to be held in Chuncheon at the temporary executive committee held in Thailand (Bangkok).

The 1st World Taekwondo Octagon Diamond Games (G4), 4th World Taekwondo Beach Championships (G2), and 1st World Taekwondo Demonstration Contest will be held in Chuncheon, the birthplace of Taekwondo.

The event will be held for 7 days from August 18th to 24th at Songam Sports Town and a special outdoor stadium in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, and more than 60 players, executives, and spectators from 212 member countries will attend.
