[김준호 기자 = 영월] 최명서 영월군수는 17일 영월군청 상황실에서 언론브리핑(간담회)을 통해 '2023년 민선8기 군정 추진 전략'을 발표했다.

 

최 군수는 "이번 민선8기는 민선7기의 정주여건 개선 및 인프라 확충 등 변화와 도약을 위해 다져진 기틀을 바탕으로 착실히 준비된 완성도 높은 계획으로 가시적인 성과를 만들어 갈 계획이다."라고 밝혔다.

 

그간 입안해 놓은 대규모 국책사업과 중장기 개발사업을 착실히 완수하여 지역소멸 위기를 극복하고, 영월을 강원남부권에서 가장 살기 좋은 거점도시로 완성한다는 전략이다.

 

먼저, 소규모 언택트 관광지로 각광 받고 있지만 그간 제자리에 머물었던 관광자원 개발에 획기적인 변화를 줄 예정이다.

 

봉래산 명소화 사업이 국토교통부 지역개발사업에 반영되어 강원남부 관광거점 도시로 도약할 동력을 확보했으며 전망대 및 모노레일 설치 등으로 영월읍 전체를 하나의 관광벨트화하고 나아가 젊은달 와이파크 방문 관광객을 영월읍 등 동부권역으로 유입할 새로운 관광자원을 사이사이 개발하여 새로운 관광축 조성으로 全영월을 관광벨트화 할 계획이다.
