[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 7일 강수현 양주시장이 시청 상황실에서 지역 내 37개교 초등학교 교장과의 소통의 장을 마련해 교육 현안 등에 대해 논의했다고 밝혔다.

이번 감담회는 지난 3일 20개교 중·고등학교장과의 만남에 이어 두 번째로, 전년도 간담회 건의사항 공유, 공교육 내실화를 위한 교육 발전방안에 대한 토론, 학교 현안 청취 등으로 진행됐다. 특히 초등학생들의 안전과 직결된 통학로 확보 및 학교 근처 도로 문제 등의 건의사항 등이 주로 논의됐다.

강수현 양주시장과 초등학교장들은 더 나은 교육환경 조성을 위한 의견을 자유롭게 개진하며 학생과 교사 모두가 안전하고 행복한 미래교육을 실천하기로 뜻을 모았다.

강 시장은 “이번 간담회를 계기로 학교장님과 적극적으로 소통하고 협력하여 건의사항을 하나하나 개선하며, 교육발전을 위해 힘쓰겠다”며“공교육 안에서 학생들이 마음껏 끼를 펼칠 수 있도록 학교에서도 건강한 교육 환경 조성을 위해 힘을 모아주기를 바란다”고 말했다.
