[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 30일 경기주택도시공사(GH)는 경기도와 ‘경기정원 조성사업’ 대행계약을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 계약에 따라 GH는 광교신도시 내 융합5부지에 3만 8천㎡ 규모의 정원 조성사업을 추진한다.

경기정원 조성사업은 업무시설이 밀집한 경기융합타운 내 자연과 어우러진 공간을 조성해 도심 속 자연경관을 보호하고, 시민들에게 휴게 공간 제공을 목적으로 한다. 

경기정원은 크게 세 공간(융합5-1, 2, 3부지)으로 나뉘어 융합5-1부지에는 경관식재로 자연미를 살려 휴식공간을 제공하고, 융합5-2부지에는 넓은 잔디광장을 조성, 융합5-3부지에는 경관식재와 더불어 조형물을 활용하여 경기정원의 정체성을 확립할 계획이다.

GH는 2023년 하반기 경기정원 착공을 시작하며, 경기정원은 2024년 하반기부터 공공에 개방될 예정이다.

GH관계자는 “경기정원은 도심 속 자연과 조화를 이루는 공간으로써 근무자, 인근 주민들에게 자연친화적 환경·공간에 대한 갈증을 해소시켜줄 것으로 기대된다”고 밝혔다.
