[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 16일 횡성군이 오는 9월 국토교통부 공모를 앞두고 도시재생 인력양성과 교육의 전문성을 강화하기 위해 충북대학교 대학원(도시재생학협동과정)과 상생협력 협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 

이날 협약식은 황재훈 국토교통부 도시재생 전문인력 양성사업단 총괄 교수(충북대), 김명기 횡성군수, 박용균 도시교통과장, 홍기영 도시교통과 도시재생팀장, 안상욱 충북대 교수(도시재생학 학과간 협동과정 전담교수) 등 관계자가 참석한 가운데 열렸다. 

양 기관은 협약을 통해 도시재생 전문인력 양성사업 협업전략 및 추진방안 발굴, 지역거점 교육기관 연합체의 구성과 운영 참여, 전문인력 역량강화 등 프로그램 운영 참여 등에 대해 상호 협력하게 된다.  

횡성군은 도시재생 행정협의회를 통해 관계 부서간 협의를 완료하고 오는 8월 19일~20일 공청회를 앞두고 있으며, 이달 말 의회 의견 청취 등 모든 사전 행정절차를 마무리하고 HUG 도시재생지원기구 컨설팅을 통해 활성화 계획안을 다듬어 9월 공모사업에 신청한다는 계획이다.

김명기 군수는 “향후 횡성읍의 중심지역인 횡성전통시장과 연계하여 낙후된 원도심 지역의 활성화를 위한 도시재생이 필요하다며, 효과적인 사업추진을 위해 충북대의 역할과 함께, 횡성군 지역의 사업추진 역량강화를 위해 노력하겠다.”고 말했다. 

한편, 충북대학교는 도시재생 전문인력 양성을 위해 특성화된 프로그램을 운영하고, 관련학부 졸업생 뿐만 아니라 공무원, 주민 등 다양한 계층에 대한 맞춤형 교육을 운영해 왔기에 이번 상생협력 체결로 거점대학을 통해 양성된 전문역량으로 현장운영에 도움될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
