[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 가평군 환경기초시설 위탁관리사인 주)파이닉스알엔디 와 가평군 하수도사업소는 여름철 안전사고를 대비해 밀폐공간을 재현한 현장훈련을 실시하였다고 밝혔다.

이날 훈련에는 관리대행업체인 ㈜파이닉스알엔디 직원이 함께 참여했고, 산소 부족 및 질식 중독 등 위험요소가 산재해 있는 공공하수도 밀폐공간 작업장에서 안전훈련을 진행했다. 

공공하수도사업장의 밀폐공간은 하수, 오수 속 혐기성 박테리아 등의 호흡·부패 작용에 의해 산소가 소비되고 황화수소, 메탄 등 유해가스가 다량 발생하게 되는 등 산소결핍, 유해가스로 인한 질식 중독과 화재, 폭발 등 위험요소가 많다.

이에 하수도사업소는 실무자를 대상으로 보유 장비의 수선에서부터 장비 사용 방법, 단계별 밀폐공간 작업 매뉴얼과 사고 발생시 안전조치까지 현장에서 교육 및 훈련을 실시했다. 

사업소 관계자는 “현장에서 발생할 수 있는 혹은 자칫 소홀할 수 있는 안전사고를 대비해 현장 대응 능력을 키울 수 있도록 밀폐공간 교육 및 훈련을 추진하게 됐다”고 말하며, “앞으로 하수도 관리의 전문성을 높이고 현장 작업 시 안전점검을 철저히 해 생명과 재산 피해를 줄이고 지역주민에게는 선진 하수도 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 만전을 기하겠다”고 전했다.
