[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 가평군 CCTV통합관제센터가 잇따른 범인 검거로 군민의 파수꾼 역할을 톡톡히 하고 있다고 전했다.

지난 19일, 가평군 CCTV통합관제센터(이하 센터)는 타 지역 경찰청의 협조요청으로 방범용 CCTV를 집중 관제하여 특수상해 등 강력범죄를 저지르고 관내로 진입한 용의자의 경로를 파악하여 경찰에 통보, 경찰이 현장에서 범인을 검거하는데 큰 기여를 했다.

센터는 2015년 4월 개소한 이후, 가평경찰서와 유기적 협력 체계를 구축하여 관내 549개소 1,184대의 방범용 CCTV를 설치, 관제요원 16명과 경찰관 등 18명이 24시간 교대로 상주하며 신속한 대응·공조체계를 마련하여 각종 사건·사고를 해결해 오고 있다.

센터는 범인 검거에 기여하는 업무 외에도 최근 기상특보 시 범람한 하천에 고립되어 구조를 기다리던 군민을 발견하고 즉시 유관기관에 신고하여 2차 피해를 방지하였을 뿐 아니라, 치매노인 등 실종자가 발생하면 신속히 동선을 파악하는 역할 등 각종 위험방지·쓰레기 불법투기 신고․음주운전 의심차량 신고 등을 통해 생활방범에도 큰 기여를 하고 있다. 

가평군 CCTV통합관제센터 관계자는 “앞으로도 가평경찰서 및 유관기관과 협업을 통해 군민 모두가 안전한 「힐링과 행복, 하나되는 가평특별군」 구현에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
