[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 24일 김동근 의정부시장이 흥선권역 총 4개대 순찰대원 20여 명과 함께 거주지역 및 취약지역에 대한 위험 요소 점검을 통해 향후 방범 순찰이 실질적인 주민 보호에 맞춰질 수 있도록  주요 현장을 합동 순찰했다고 밝혔다. 

흥선권역 자율방범대는 그간 입석마을 취약지구 및 호명산 빌리지 등 거주지역과 한국법무보호복지공단 경기북부지부, 영아원 등에 대한 순찰을 지속해 왔다. 여기에 지난해 9월 김근식 사태 이후 입석마을 지역 주민들의 높아진 불안감 해소를 위한 안전 체감도 향상 대책으로 흥선권역 4개 자율방범대가 연합해 기존 주 1회 순찰하던 것을 지난해 12월부터 본격 주 5회로 확대 운영했다. 

흥선권역 자율방범대는 “입석마을의 방범 순찰을 통해 사회적약자뿐만 아니라 주민들의 안심 귀갓길을 보장하고, CCTV가 닿지 않는 곳까지 앞으로도 지역사회의 치안을 담당하는 봉사자의 마음으로 최선을 다하겠다”며, “사명감을 북돋워 주시고, 함께 동참해 주신 시장님께 감사드린다”고 말했다.
