[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시 옥정호수도서관은 가족단위 이용자 편의를 최우선으로 생각한 도서관 환경으로 탈바꿈하기 위해 ‘옥정호수도서관 아동자료코너’ 조성을 완료했다고 밝혔다.

이번 아동자료코너 조성 공사는 기존의 정기간행물 코너를 리모델링해 어린이와 가족단위 이용자를 위한 열람좌석을 마련하고 어린이를 위한 벽면 서가와 전시 코너, 창가 바 테이블, 자유로운 독서가 가능한 계단식 마루 등으로 구성해 코너 내부에서 어린이의 위치를 어디에서든 확인할 수 있도록 고려하여 조성했다.

또한, 기존 어린이/유아자료실의 협소공간으로 인한 불편사항을 해소시키고 이용자 편의를 높였다. 

더불어 자료실 내부와 수유실 벽면에 안전매트를 설치하며 이용자 안전사고를 예방하고 이동 동선을 확보하는 등 유아를 동반한 시민들의 쾌적한 열람환경을 조성하고자 노력했다.

시 도서관 관계자는 “양주시민의 문화 향유를 위한 커뮤니티 거점으로서, 시민들의 불편사항에 귀 기울이고 시민 편의를 우선으로 최상의 서비스를 제공하는 복합문화공간으로 운영되기 위하여 전 계층을 위한 생애주기별 다양한 독서프로그램 개발과 북큐레이션, 전시코너 조성 등 다양한 노력을 기울일 예정”이라고 전했다.
