[남상훈 기자 = 횡성군] 22일 횡성군은 ‘사랑의 땔감 나누기’ 행사를 개최하고 관내 취약계층으로 읍‧면 행정복지센터에서 선정한 36가구에 오는 11월 말까지 가구당 3톤씩 난방용 땔감 나누기에 나선다고 밝혔다.

군은 산림사업장에서 나온 벌채목을 수집해 경제적 어려움을 겪고 있는 독거노인, 장애인 등 취약계층에게 난방용 땔감을 공급함으로써, 어려운 이웃에게는 따뜻한 겨울을 선사하고, 산림바이오매스의 활용도를 높여 저탄소 녹색성장에 기여하는 등 환경을 지키는 데 앞장설 계획이다.

횡성군은 지난 2015년부터 2021년까지 7년 동안 230여 가구에 총 660톤의 땔감(장작)을 공급한 바 있다. 올해는 22일 청정환경사업소 임목저장소에서 ‘사랑의 땔감 나누기’ 행사를 시작으로 오는 11월 말까지 가구당 3톤씩 총 108여 톤의 난방용 땔감을 공급할 예정이다.

김병혁 산림녹지과장은 “사랑의 땔감 나누기 사업이 코로나19 장기화와 고유가 대란으로 몸과 마음이 지친 지역 주민들에게 온기를 불어줄 수 있는 뜻깊은 행사가 되길 바란다.”고 말했다.
