포천시의회 서과석 의장을 포함한 시의원 및 의회사무과 직원은 한탄강 일대 국가정원 지정, 포천시 케이블카 사업 활성화, 조림 관련 우수사례 벤치마킹을 위해 ‘하동 세계 茶 엑스포’, ‘스타웨이하동’, ‘순천만국가정원’, ‘순천시의회’, ‘여수 관광케이블카’ 등을 방문해 우수 관광자원과 선진지 조림 및 조경에 대해 탐방하면서 우리시에 접목할 수 있는 방안에 대해 심도있게 논의했다. 

서과석 의장은 “포천은 다양한 문화유산과 생태자원을 보유한 도시이며 우리가 가지고 있는 강점을 적극 활용하여 관광자원화 할 수 있도록 이번 방문을 추진하게 되었다.”며“동료의원들과 우리시 여건에 맞는 개발 방안에 대해 고심하고 시청 관련 부서와도 적극 협력하여 효과적인 관광 정책이 마련될 수 있도록 하겠다.”고 말했다.
