[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 지난 8일부터 오는 12일까지 원주지방환경청이 국가하천 배수로에 대해 장마철 대비 통수능력을 원활히 하고 침수를 방지하는 등 여름철 집중호우 선제적 대응을 위해 배수로 집중 점검을 실시하고 정비를 해나간다고 밝혔다.

배수로 집중 점검 해당 구간은 총 54.7km이며, 충청권은 섬강 합류점에서 충주댐 하류까지 28km, 강원권은 충주댐 상류에서 정선 여량 송천 합류점까지 26.7km이다. 

이번 배수로 정비작업은 이용객들이 통행하는 시간대를 피해 새벽시간에 작업하고 작업구간에 대해서는 차단기 통제를 실시하는 등 안전하게 진행되며, 해당 구간 내 배수로에 퇴적된 토사 및 잡물(雜物)등을 제거하여 유수 소통을 원활하게 할 계획이다.

김정환 원주지방환경청장은 “이상기후로 집중호우 빈도가 증가하는 만큼 국가하천의 배수로 정비 등 선제적인 대응으로 침수피해를 방지하고, 주민들의 여름철 집중호우에 대한 불안감을 해소시킬 수 있게 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.
