[남상훈 기자 = 동두천] 29일 동두천시는 CCTV 통합관제센터 관제요원(모니터링 요원)이 집중 관제를 통해 실종 아동을 조기 발견해 사고예방에 결정적으로 기여한 공로를 인정받아 동두천경찰서로부터 뜻깊은 감사장을 받았다고 밝혔다.

지난 6월 20일 오전 4시경 불현동에 거주하던 지체 장애를 갖고 있는 10세 남아 A 군이 혼자 집을 나가 가족들이 미귀가자로 경찰에 신고했다. 이후 오전 7시 40분경 관제요원의 면밀한 모니터링으로 생연2동 이화빌 인근에서 A군을 조기 발견했고, 안전하게 가족의 품으로 돌아갈 수 있도록 조치했다. 

한편, 동두천시 CCTV 통합관제센터는 방범용 CCTV를 24시간 365일 실시간 모니터링을 시행하고 있으며 절도, 폭력 등 범죄뿐 아니라 치매 노인 또는 도움이 필요한 사람의 구조에 기여하는 등 비상 상황 발생 시 시민의 생명과 안전을 지키는 데 큰 역할을 하고 있다.

동두천시 CCTV 통합관제센터 관계자는 “앞으로도 적극적인 집중 관제를 통해 범죄예방과 시민이 안심할 수 있는 동두천을 만들기 위해 더욱 노력하겠다”라고 말했다.
