통제 구간은 미시령옛길 정상 ~ 델피노 삼거리까지 약 6.6km 구간이다. 해당지역은 폭설과 도로 결빙에 따라 차량 통행 시 안전사고 위험이 내재되어 있어 고성·인제경찰서, 인제군청 등 유관기관과 협의를 통해 통제하기로 결정했다.
이에 따라 미시령 옛길을 이용했던 차량들은 우회노선으로 군도8호선 미시령 옛길은 국지도 56호선 서울·인제 방향 미시령터널을 이용해야 하며, 국도7호선 간성읍은 국도46호선 진부령 방면을 이용하면 된다.
군 관계자는 “미시령 옛길 이용자들이 불편하더라도 안전을 위하여 우회 노선을 이용해 주시면 감사하겠으며, 기상 상황에 따라 조기 개통되거나 통행금지 기간이 연장될 가능성도 있다.”라고 전했다.
