[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 설악면 새마을지도자협의회는 지난 여름을 지나며 무더위로 인해 늘어난 해충 박멸을 위해 방역 봉사활동을 펼치고 있다고 밝혔다.

최근 가을 장마로 인해 날씨가 습해지면서 시가지와 마을에 모기, 하루살이 등 벌레와 해충이 확산되자 차량용 광역살포기를 활용해 방역 봉사활동에 나섰다고 했다.

윤양근 협의회장은 “새마을지도자들이 자발적으로 주민들을 위해 봉사할 수 있어 더 보람을 느낀다”고 말했다.

금번 방역봉사는 9월 말일까지 설악면내 집단주거지 및 공공시설 등에 집중적으로 실시할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

설악면 새마을지도자협의회는 매년 어려운 가정들의 주거환경개선사업을 추진하고 있으며 금년에도 3가구의 집수리 봉사를 실시한 바 있다고 했다.

설악면은 이번 방역 활동으로 주민들이 더욱 쾌적한 환경에서 산책을 즐기고 생활할 수 있게 될 것이라 기대하고 있다고 전했다.
