[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 지난 15일 김정환 원주지방환경청장이 청사 3층 회의실에서 육군 제36보병사단과 '강원지역 화학테러·사고 공동대응을 위한 업무협약'을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

김 청장은 육군 제36보병사단과의 업무협약을 통해 강원지역 내 화학테러·사고에 신속·효과적 대응을 위해 탐지·분석 장비 등을 상호협조하고 유기적 협력관계를 유지하기로 합의했다.

이에 따라, 화학테러·사고 대응을 위한 실무협의체를 구성·운영해 상시 연락 및 협력체계를 유지하고, 반기 1회 이상의 합동훈련 등을 통해 각 기관 탐지·분석 장비 등을 상호 협조·운용해 화학테러·사고에 신속히 대응하는 체계를 마련하기로 했다. 양 기관은 매년 정기적인 합동훈련과 실무 협력을 지속적으로 이어나갈 계획이다.

김정환 원주지방환경청장은 “군사 접경지역인 강원도에서 대규모 화학테러·사고 발생시 양 기관의 장비를 총동원하여 신속한 유독물질 방재 처리에 시너지 효과가 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
