[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 17일 김동근 의정부시장은 설 명절을 앞두고 민생안정 전반을 살피기 위해 관내 전통시장인 제일시장을 방문해 상인들을 격려하고 전통시장 이용 활성화 등의 캠페인도 전개했다고 밝혔다.

이날 김동근 시장은 국회의원, 시의회 의장 및 도‧시의원, 제일시자 상인회장 등 30여 명과 함께 제일시장 내 점포를 방문해 물가상승으로 인한 경기침체로 어려움을 겪고 있는 상인들을 위로하고 격려했다.

또한, 온누리상품권으로 성수품 등 시장 물건을 직접 구매하는 장보기 행사를 하면서 명절 물가 동향을 살피며 애로사항을 청취했으며, 전통시장을 방문한 시민들에게 전통시장 이용에 대한 감사 인사를 전하는 한편 전통시장과 착한가격업소 이용에 적극 동참을 유도하기 위해 참여한 모든 관계자와 캠페인을 전개하기도 했다.

김동근 의정부시장은 “전통시장은 지역주민의 대표적인 소비와 유통 공간으로 지역경제 기반으로서 시민들의 발걸음이 끊이지 않도록 환경·안전·시설개선, 대형마트와 차별화된 다양한 이벤트 행사 등 전략적인 방안을 강구해 누구나 부담 없이 즐겨찾는 전통시장이 될 수 있도록 노력을 다해 줄 것"을 당부했다.
