[남상훈 기자 = 양주] 지난 27일 양주시는 옥정초등학교 일원에서 교통안전 문화 확산을 위해 민·관·경 합동 어린이 교통안전 캠페인을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 캠페인은 최근 어린이보호구역에서 잇따른 어린이 안전사고가 발생함에 따라 어린이보호구역 내 불법 주·정차 문제에 대한 경각심을 고취시키고 등굣길 교통안전 지도를 통해 안전한 어린이 보행환경을 조성하고자 마련했다. 양주시와 양주경찰서를 비롯한 녹색어머니회, 모범운전자회, 옥정초 교직원 등이 참여한 캠페인은 교통안전 홍보 물품과 ‘전동킥보드 이것만은 꼭 알고 탑시다’ 등의 전단지를 배부하며 교통안전 수칙 준수를 강조했다.

서정순 양주경찰서장은 “앞으로도 교통시설을 점검 및 개선하고 관계기관과의 적극적인 협력을 통해 안전한 통학로를 조성할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

강수현 양주시장은 “어린이 보호구역 내 교통사고 방지 및 초등학생들의 안전한 보행환경 조성을 위해 경찰서 등과 함께 적극 추진하겠다”고 전했다.
