[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 20일 김동근 의정부시장이 대한노인회 의정부시지회 부설 노인대학에서 40여 명의 노인교실 학생을 대상으로 특강을 진행했다고 밝혔다.

김동근 시장은 ‘어르신이 행복한 도시 의정부를 어떻게 만들까’라는 주제로 강의를 진행했다. 노인통합일자리센터 설치, 걷고 싶은 도시 조성을 통한 어르신들이 편리한 환경 만들기, 시장 직속 시니어위원회 설치 등을 설명하며 도시와 국가, 개인이 함께하는 100세 시대 준비에 대해 이야기했다. 

또한, 강의가 끝난 후 질의응답 시간을 통해 어르신들의 안부를 여쭙고 우리 시에 관한 애로사항 등을 청취했다. 이를 통해 관련 시설 현장 점검을 약속하고 해결방안을 마련하겠다고 밝혔다.

한편, 의정부노인회 노인대학은 4월 11일 1학기를 시작해 매주 화요일 오후 2시부터 4시까지 수업을 진행하고 있다. 주요 강의는 노후관리, 연극 공연, DIY 수업, 소비자 교육, 건강관리 등으로 이뤄진다.

김동근 시장은 “의정부시는 어르신의 지혜가 존중 받는 사회를 만들고자 다양한 사업을 추진하고 있다”며, “노인복지 증진 등 어르신이 행복한 도시를 조성하기 위해 지속적으로 소통해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
