[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 김동근 의정부시장이 제51회 어버이날을 기념해 경로효친의 미덕을 계승하는 ‘효(孝)’행사의 일원으로 모범시민상 표창을 수여하는 등 다양한 행사를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

지난 6일 김 시장이 효 실천으로 지역사회의 귀감이 되는 가정을 직접 방문했다. 주인공은 100세가 넘는 고령의 어르신을 정성껏 모시고 있는 부부다. 김 시장은 어르신에게 카네이션을 달아드리고 부부에게 모범시민상 표창을 수여했다.

한편, 의정부시는 지난 2일에 독거 어르신 가구 방문해 송산3동 지역사회보장협의체에서 준비한 반려식물 및 간식 꾸러미를 전달했다. 또한 어버이날 당일인 8일에는 관내 4개 노인복지관에서 카네이션 달아드리기, 특식 제공, 체험부스 운영 등 다양한 행사를 진행하며 어버이 은혜에 감사하는 마음을 전했다.
