[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 25일 김동근 의정부시장이 참전용사의 자긍심을 높이고 역사적 교훈을 되새기기 위해 개최된 6.25전쟁 제73주년 기념행사에 참석했다고 밝혔다.

‘위대한 헌신, 영원히 가슴에’를 주제로 열린 기념행사는 국민의례, 모범 국가유공자 표창, 대회사 및 기념사, 축사, 6.25의 노래 제창 순으로 진행됐다. 유공자, 유가족을 비롯한 보훈단체장 및 안보단체장, 지역 국회의원, 시·도의원 등 150명이 참석했다.

이원우 6.25참전유공자회 의정부시지회장은 “오늘 기념행사를 통해 6.25전쟁의 실상을 상기해보고, 다시는 이 땅에서 전쟁의 참상이 되풀이 되지 않아야 한다”며, “후손들을 위해 숭고한 6.25정신을 물려주길 희망한다”고 전했다.

김동근 시장은 기념사를 통해 “오늘의 대한민국을 있게 하신 참전용사 여러분의 위국헌신에 깊은 존경과 감사의 말씀을 드린다”며, “국가유공자들이 자긍심을 가질 수 있는 보훈 문화 조성을 통해 명예 선양에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
