행사는 국민의례 및 기념사, 축사, 감사인사, 현판 제막식 순으로 진행됐다. 김동근 시장을 비롯해 국회의원 및 시의원, 대한노인회 의정부시지회장, 경로당 회원 등 60여 명이 참석했다.

중앙경로당은 호국로 1297번길 27, 1층에 위치하고 있으며 기존 건축물의 노후로 철거를 실시하고 지난 2020년부터 지상 2층, 연면적 304㎡ 규모의 신축사업을 추진, 2021년 12월 착공해 올 3월 준공했다. 1층은 경로당으로, 2층은 노인일자리 공동작업장으로 운영할 계획이다.
