[남상훈 기자 = 포천] 지난 18일 백영현 포천시장은 외국인 근로자 및 외국인 주민 가족 80여명이 참석한 가운데 외국인 근로자들의 지역사회 장기 정착, 건강한 공동체 의식 강화 등의 환경 조성을 위해 ‘2022 포천시 어울림 한마당’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

어울림 한마당은 개회식, 릴레이 포천 외국인 근로자 영상, 고향에서 온 편지, 축하공연, 체험프로그램 순으로 진행했다. 현지 가족이 전해온 ‘고향에서 온 편지’를 본 외국인 근로자들은 화면에 나오는 가족들의 따뜻한 말에 눈물을 흘렸으며, 이어진 레크리에이션과 축하공연으로 모두가 웃고 즐기며 소통하는 즐거운 시간을 보냈다.

방글라데시 출신의 외국인 근로자 대표 소헬(Shohel)은 “외국인 이주민들을 위해 포천시 어울림 한마당을 개최주셔서 감사드린다. 내년에도 외국인 주민들이 모여 소통하며 참여할 수 있는 축제를 만들어 주시면 좋겠다.”고 말했다.

백영현 포천시장은 “우리 포천시에는 약 2만 명의 외국인 주민들이 거주하고 있다. 인구 비율로 보면 약 13%로 경기북부에서 가장 높다. 급속도로 다문화 사회로 변화되고 있는 것 알 수 있다.”며  “외국인 주민들을 지원하기 위해 외국인 주민 지원센터 건립을 추진하고 내년에는 찾아가는 한국어 학습 사업과 외국인 주민 복지 증진사업을 함께 펼쳐 나갈 계획” 이라고 말했다.

또한 “외국인 주민의 자립과 지역사회참여를 지원하고 상생하며 지역사회구성원으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 전했다.
