[김현우 기자 = 포천] 포천시는 지난 28일 국민건강보험공단으로부터 저소득· 취약계층 건강보험료 지원에 앞장선 공로를 인정받아 감사패를 수상했다고 밝혔다. 

포천시는 지난 2005년부터 65세 이상 저소득 어르신의 의료수급권 보호를 위해 건강보험료 지원을 지속해 왔으며, 그 지원 규모는 2022년 한해 1억 7,500만 원에 달한다.

지난 4월부터는 경제적 빈곤 세대의 건강보험료 지원사업을 개시해 현재까지 2,100만 원을 추가 지원하고 있다.

국민건강보험공단은 저소득 취약계층 건강보험료 지원을 위해 노력하는 전국 325개소 기관과 단체 중 경기·인천지역에서는 총 7개소를 우수기관으로 선정했다.

이날 감사패는 국민건강보험공단 이사장을 대신하여 변영심 포천지사장이 백영현 포천시장에게 전달했다. 

백영현 포천시장은 “어르신들을 위한 정책적 지원에 더 큰 책임감을 느낀다. 노령과 빈곤으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 어르신들의 건강증진을 위해 지원을 아끼지 않고, 복지사각지대에 놓인 어르신들의 안정된 생활을 위해 앞으로도 더욱 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
