[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시는 지역사회 발전에 크게 공헌한 시민을 선발하여 그 공적을 널리 알리기 위한 제34회 동두천시 시민의 장 수상 후보자 신청을 오는 8월 한 달간 접수 받는다고 밝혔다.

‘시민의 장’은 애향봉사장, 향토발전장, 효행선행장, 문화예술장, 체육진흥장으로 5개 부문이며, 부문별로 시민의 장 증서와 상패를 수여한다. 

후보자 추천은 만19세 이상 동두천 시민이 추천하는 사람으로(추천자와 피추천자가 동일인이 아니어야 함) 동두천에서 5년 이상 거주하거나 동두천 지역의 직장에 소속하면서 시 발전을 위해 5년 이상 활동한 사람이라면 가능하다.

추천 후보자는 현지 조사와 시민의 장 심사위원회를 거쳐 최종 수상자가 결정되며, 코로나19 상황을 고려하여 오는 10월 중 시민의 날 기념식에서 시상식을 개최할 계획이다.
