[김준호 기자=동해시] 동해시는 개청 43주년을 맞아 오는 4월 1일~2일까지 양일간  웰빙 레포츠타운 일원에서 2023 동해시민 스포츠 대축전을 개최한다고 밝혔다.

동해시체육회가 주최하고 회원종목단체에서 주관하는 이번 대회는 생활체육 활성화를 통한 시민들의 기초체력 증진 및 활기찬 스포츠 분위기 조성을 목적으로 매년 개최하고 있다.

올해는 축구, 테니스, 탁구, 골프, 볼링, 족구, 게이트볼, 배구, 파크골프, 육상, 수영, 야구, 배드민턴, 궁도, 자전거 등 총 15개 종목 4,700여명의 선수가 참여할 계획이며, 선수들은 동해웰빙레포츠타운 및 각 종목별 경기장에서 그동안 갈고 닦은 기량을 마음껏 펼치게 된다.

본 대회는 4월 1일 예선 및 사전 경기를 시작으로, 개회식은 4월 2일오전 9시 동해체육관에서 개최될 예정이며, 사물놀이, 색소폰 연주, 체조 등 다채로운 식전행사와 함께 그동안 체육발전에 기여한 이들에 대한 공로패 수여식에 이어 각 종목별 결선 경기 등이 진행된다.

이선우 체육교육과장은 “시 개청 43주년을 기념하는 이번 대회에 많은 시민이 참여하여 건강 증진을 도모하고 화합·소통하는 계기가 되길  바라며, 시민들이 불편함이 없도록 차질없는 행사준비에 만전을 기하겠다”고 말했다.
