[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 지난 20일 의정부시는 여름철 집중호우로 발생할 수 있는 산사태 등 산림재해에 대비해 사방시설 보수 공사, 산사태취약 지역 실태조사 등의 선제적 대응에 나선다고 밝혔다.

의정부시는 6억 원을 들여 사방시설 보수공사 5개소, 사방댐 준설 사업 7개소, 산사태 취약지역 실태조사 4개소, 사방댐 외관 점검 2개소를 상반기 중 실시할 계획이다.

사방시설 보수공사는 지난 가을철까지 집중호우로 유실된 만가대 계곡, 석림사 계곡, 동막골 계곡 등을 대상으로 한다. 대상지별 산지의 특성을 고려해 사방시설이 재해예방 기능을 유지할 수 있도록 보수할 예정이다.

또한 지난해 집중호우가 지속돼 토사 수용량이 한계에 달한 사방댐은 기능 및 안정성 유지를 위한 토사 준설과 외관 점검을 실시한다. 특히 산사태 발생 우려 지역 대상지에 대한 실태조사에 착수해 산사태와 토석류로 인한 재난을 예방할 방침이다.

김동근 시장은 “여름철 집중호우에 따른 예기치 못한 산림재해가 발생할 우려가 있어 우기 전인 6월 말까지 사방시설 보수 및 사방댐 준설 등을 마무리하겠다”며, “시민의 생명 및 재산 피해를 최소화할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
