양구군은 식중독 예방정책 추진의 일환으로 학교, 유치원, 어린이집, 사회복지시설 등을 대상으로 분기별로 시설지도·점검과 안전 교육·홍보 등을 진행해왔다.

이와 더불어 지난 7월 주민이 직접 식품 위생행정에 참여하는 소비자 식품위생감시원을 운영했다. 또한 9월부터 11월까지 3개월간 최근 10년간 식중독 의심 환자 발생·식품위생법 위반 이력이 있는 음식점을 대상으로 식중독 예방진단 컨설팅을 통해 전반적인 위생 상태를 점검했다. 그 결과 미흡 사항에 대해 실질적 개선·보완책을 제시하는 등 안전한 식생활 정착과 식품위생 수준 향상을 위해 노력해왔다.
