[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 북부지방산림청은 여름철 산사태 재난으로부터 국민의 생명과 재산을 보호하기 위해 산사태현장예방단을 여름철 자연재난대책기간인 5월 15일부터 10월 15일까지 운영한다고 밝혔다.

산사태현장예방단은 총 24명으로 관내 6개 국유림관리소에 각각 1개단 4명을 선발 운영한다. 주요 임무는 관내 산사태취약지역 1,381개소에 대해 재해예방을 위한 순찰, 점검 및 응급조치와 산사태 예방 관련 주민 안내 및 홍보활동 지원, 산사태 예·경보 시 주민 대피 지원 등 재난 예방·대응·복구를 위한 다양한 임무를 수행한다. 

임하수 북부지방산림청장은 “산사태현장예방단 운영을 통해 예측할 수 없는 국지성 호우 및 다가오는 태풍 등 산림재해 상황에 미리 대비하고 선제적으로 대응하여 국민의 생명과 재산 피해 최소화에 적극 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
