[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 3월 강릉시는 옥계에서 발생한 산불피해지역 중 산사태 등 2차 피해 우려 지역의 우선 복구를 위하여 생활권 주변의 피해목 긴급벌채 사업을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

본 사업은 산불피해목 쓰러짐으로 인한 민가, 도로변 등 생활권에 대한 추가 피해를 최소화하고 건전한 산림으로 복구를 위해 긴급하게 실시하는 사업으로 옥계면 피해지역 중 산주 동의를 받은 74ha에 대해 우선 실시한다고 했다.

옥계면은 지난 산불로 인해 총 1,455ha의 산림 피해를 입었고, 피해 금액은 93억 400만 원으로 조사됐으며, 이번 생활권 주변 지역 긴급벌채를 실시한 후 연차적으로 무너진 생태계와 산림피해 회복을 위해 피해목 벌채사업, 조림사업 및 사방사업 등을 실시할 계획이라고 했다.

강릉시 관계자는 “산불 피해 지역에 2차 피해가 발생하지 않도록 산림 복구에 최선을 다하겠다.” 며, “시민들께서도 산불예방에 각별한 관심을 가지고 동참해 주시길 바란다.” 고 말했다.
