[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시는 폭염 안전관리 체제 구축 및 시민의 생명·재산 보호를 위해 날씨에 따라 스스로 펴고 접는 스마트 그늘막을 지행역 일원 5개소에 설치했다고 밝혔다.

시는 유동 인구가 많은 꿈나무 근린공원 앞 사거리 횡단보도와 지행역 출구 사거리 앞 등 5곳에 스마트 그늘막을 설치했다고 전했다.

스마트 그늘막은 사물인터넷(IoT)과 태양광 기술을 접목했으며, 기존에 수작업으로 개폐했던 고정형과 달리 바람 세기 및 외부온도를 분석하는 감지센서가 장착돼 알아서 그늘막을 펴고 접는다고 했다.

특히 스마트 그늘막은 길이 5.4m, 폭 3m, 높이 3m로 넓어져 기존 그늘막보다 더 많은 주민들을 수용할 수 있고 개폐를 위한 별도의 인력이 필요하지 않아 효율적인 관리가 가능하다.

설치된 스마트 그늘막은 넓은 크기로 많은 인원을 수용할 수 있고 밤에는 LED 조명으로 보안등 역할도 해 주민들로부터 호응이 높을 것으로 기대된다고 전했다.

권영선 동두천시 안전총괄과장은 “폭염 취약 계층의 피해를 예방하기 위해 설치한 스마트 그늘막이 지구온난화 같은 이상기후에 제 역할을 할 수 있길 바란다”며, “앞으로도 시민행정에 AI, 사물인터넷 등 혁신 기술을 적극 도입해 주민 편의를 높이고 안전을 지킬 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
