[김현우 기자 = 속초] 속초시민은 2023년 1월 1일부터 언제든지 속초시립박물관 무료입장이 가능하다고 전했다.

속초시는 시 승격 60주년을 맞아 속초시민으로서의 자긍심을 높이고자 기존 일요일 및 설·추석명절 당일에 한정됐던 속초시민 무료입장을 전면 무료입장으로 전환한다고 밝혔다. 

이를 위해 지난 10월부터「속초시립박물관 운영 조례」일부 개정작업을 실시하여 입법예고 등 행정절차를 완료했고, 조례안이 지난 11월 28일 제319회 속초시의회 제2차 정례회에서 의결됨에 따라 속초시민은 상시 무료입장이 가능해졌다. 

또한, 상호 수혜 원칙에 따른 자매도시 간 교류를 실시하고자 속초시와 자매결연 관계인 서울 중구, 전북 정읍, 경기 오산, 전남 여수 거주 주민들에 대한 관람료 할인 혜택도 제공할 예정이며, 현재 오산시의 경우 ‘오산시 미니어처 빌리지’ 관람료를 자매도시 주민들에게는 20% 할인해 주고 있다.

이병선 속초시장은 “시 승격 60주년을 맞아 시의 주인인 시민들에게 조금이나마 혜택이 돌아갈 수 있도록 본 제도를 시행했다.”며, “앞으로도 보다 많은 혜택을 드릴 수 있는 방안을 강구하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
