[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 속초시가 본격적인 폭염이 시작되기 전 실내무더위쉼터 전수점검을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

이번 전수점검은 관내에 있는 실내무더위쉼터 81개소를 대상으로 7월 8일까지 진행되며 시설 내 냉방기 보유 현황 및 작동상태, 안내표지판 부착 여부, 코로나19 주요 방역수칙 점검 및 안내, 불편사항 및 건의사항 확인 등을 점검한다고 했다. 

속초시는 점검을 통해 불편사항을 개선하고 무더위쉼터 활성화 방안을 마련할 예정이라고 전했다.

한편, 기상청에 따르면 여름철 평균기온은 지속적으로 상승하는 추세로 금년도 폭염일수 또한 평년 대비 증가할 것으로 전망하고 있으며, 속초시는 5월 20일부터 9월 30일까지 여름철 무더위에 대비하여 시민들의 생활안전 재난사고를 예방하기 위하여 폭염대책기간을 운영하고 있다고 했다.

폭염대책기간 중에는 속초시 폭염대응 T/F팀을 구성하여 폭염정보 전달체계 및 응급상황 대비 비상연락망을 구축하고, 폭염 저감시설인 그늘막 25개소 및 무더위쉼터 85개소 운영·관리를 하는 등 폭염 피해 예방에 만전을 기하고 있다고 했다.

속초시 관계자는“중대재해에 열사병이 포함될 만큼 폭염 피해 예방의 중요성이 대두되고 있는 상황으로 연일 더워지는 날씨에 불쾌감을 덜어드리고 폭염으로 인한 피해 예방을 위해 노력하겠다.”라고 말했다.
