[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 8월 29일 김동근 의정부시장은 경기북부상공회의소 의정부시상공회 창립 5주년 기념식에 특별 강연자로 초청돼 시정 방향에 대해 소개하는 시간을 가졌다고 밝혔다.

강연에 앞서 김동근 시장은 기업인의 권익보호와 지역상공업 발전에 기여해 온 의정부시상공회의 노고를 격려하고 시와 긴밀한 유대관계를 다져온 의정부시상공회의 창립기념일을 축하했다.

이날 강연에서 김동근 의정부시장은 ‘기업하기 좋은 도시, 일자리가 많은 도시 의정부’를 주제로 청년이 머물고 싶은 도시 육성을 강조하며 의정부시 비전에 대한 포부를 밝혔으며 5대 실행전략으로 첨단산업 유치, 경기북부 중심도시로서의 역할 확대, 기업하기 좋은 환경 조성, 살기좋은 도시, 문화관광도시로의 탈바꿈을 제시하며 경기북부 중심도시로서의 의정부시 역할 확대에 대한 강한 의지를 보였다.
