[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시 재향군인회는 지난 14일, 동두천컨벤션 7층 대연회장에서 창설 제70주년 재향군인의 날 기념식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 기념행사에는 박형덕 동두천시장, 김승호 동두천시의회의장을 비롯한 시·도의원, 한국성 경기북부보훈지청장, 석대완 육군제28보병사단 행정부사단장, 보훈단체장 및 향군회원 등 150여 명이 참석했다.

기념식은 크라티아(동두천 여중)의 식전 공연을 시작으로 국민의례, 유공자 표창, 기념사, 축사, 향군의 다짐 낭독, 케이크 커팅, 축하공연 순서로 진행됐다.

양순종 재향군인회 회장권한대행은 기념사에서 “대한민국재향군인회 구호 「걸어온 70년, 나아갈 70년」에 걸맞게 제70주년 재향군인의 날 행사를 개최하여 뜻깊게 생각한다. 향군과 지역사회 발전에 헌신적으로 봉사하는 회원들의 노고에 감사드리며 불안한 안보 상황이 지속되고 있는 만큼 동두천시재향군인회가 지역의 안보와 발전을 위해 적극적으로 앞장서자”라고 말했다.

또한 박형덕 동두천시장은 축사에서 “젊은 시절 나라를 지키기 위해 국방의 의무를 다하시고 전역 후에는 지역 안보를 위해 다양한 활동으로 큰 역할을 해 주시는 재향군인 회원님들께 감사드린다”라며 “걸어온 70년 못지않게 앞으로 나아갈 70년도 국가와 지역발전을 위해 함께 해 주시리라 생각한다”라고 말했다.
